Our Heritage
Powerstep was founded in 1991 by podiatrist Dr. Les Appel to create over-the-counter insole solutions as effective as costly custom orthotics. His medical expertise guided the research and patented technologies inside every Powerstep insole.
The first Powerstep products provided exceptional arch support and cushioning in a convenient insole. Word spread quickly among podiatrists, foot doctors, pharmacies, and individuals seeking foot pain relief.
As demand grew, Powerstep expanded its insole selection with more customized arch heights, shapes, and materials engineered for diverse foot types and activities. Novel technologies like heat-moldability brought semi-custom orthotic comfort home.
